Objectives Overall objective To improve French beans production and safety using botanicals and insect traps in management of thrips and other pests. Specific objectives 1. To determine the effect of botanicals in management of thrips and other pests in French beans. 2. To determine effectiveness of using traps of different colours in management thrips and other pests in French beans. 3. To determine the amount of chemical residues in the French beans sold in the local markets.

Materials and Methods 1.Experiment site: Kabete Field Station To determine the effect of using four different botanicals prepared, one commercial botanical and decis as positive control in management of thrips and other pests in French beans.Treatments; Tithonia, Tephrosia, Tagetes,Spider plant, Nimbecidine, decis and control. 2. Experiment two To determine the effectiveness of coloured insect traps in management of thrips and other insect pests in French beans. Treatments: Blue, Yellow and White insect traps. 3. Experiment on analysis of chemical residual of French bean from the experiment and some from the market.
