2 What is Recognition Assessment? It is not an exam or test. It looks at the candidate’s industry skills and knowledge by: Checking what they’ve already done Finding out their skills and knowledge Getting others to provide feedback on workplace tasks Observing workplace tasks
3 Enrolment The assessor will enrol the candidate The assessor will ask about candidate goals An Assessment timetable is planned
4 Qualifications and Workplace & Documents Documents are checked to see workplace skills and knowledge. Credits may be given for previous qualifications. Documents used should maintain client privacy.
5 Skills and Knowledge Yarn The Assessor yarns with the candidate about industry skills and knowledge. Questions are used to start the yarn. The Assessor keeps notes of the yarn.
6 Workplace Report The workplace is provided information on Recognition Assessment. A Workplace Supervisor is asked what industry tasks the candidate does in their job.
7 Observing Practical Skills The Assessor will visit the workplace to observe the candidate doing industry tasks. At least two workplace tasks will be performed by candidate.
8 Qualifications Issued Certificate for full or part completion of qualification is issued. A record of any further training required to complete a full qualification is given to the candidate.
9 Feedback Candidate is asked for feedback on the Recognition Assessment. Workplace is asked for feedback on the Recognition Assessment.
10 Other Information The Assessment process involves a number of meetings or visits. The candidate, the assessor and the workplace supervisor will have documents to sign. All the records for a Recognition Assessment have to be stored.
