Helicopters The largest helicopter ever built was a massive aircraft developed in the Soviet Union during the 1960s called the Mil V-12. The V-12 was a rather unusual test vehicle that featured two rotors mounted side by side at the ends of a large wing. Each rotor had a diameter of nearly 115 ft. The helicopter was so enormous that the distance from the edge of one rotor disk to the other was almost 220 ft, even wider across than the wingspan of a Boeing 747! Picoflyer is the world’s smallest helicopter. It is about the size of a 9v battery and can fly for about a minute on a full charge.

Planes The Antonov An-225 is the world’s largest plane and has a wingspan of 290 feet (a football field) and can carry 550,000 pounds of cargo The Bumble Bee II – is the world’s smallest plane and has a wingspan of 5½ feet.

Robots This microrobot is about as wide as a human hair and half the length of the period at the end of a sentence. But it can move forward and turn. While not an “intelligent robot” it is by far the smallest to date. The KUKA KR 1000 titan 6-axis robot is listed as the largest and strongest robot (at least industrial robot) and can pick up 1,000 kg (about 2,500 pounds) and reach out about 10’ from it’s base. Perfect for putting a motor into a car or something similar. The robot stands about 12 feet tall

Kuka Robot Amusement Ride Riders get to select what it does…

ROBOSAURUS  40-foot tall 30-ton mechanical dinosaur.  This Hollywood-style spectacle is produced by Monster Robots, Inc., an innovative firm which combines cutting edge technology, special effects, and a professional entertainment production team.  ROBOSAURUS was created as a showpiece of state-of-the-art hydraulic, electrical and mechanical technology. The firm spent two years developing and building it in affiliation with more than 30 high-tech companies.

Vehicles with wheels The Liebherr T 282B is 24’ tall, 48’ long, and 28’ wide and can carry 400 tons of dirt or ? The vehicle is actually a hybrid and drives with several really big electric motors which are powered by a diesel engine. Cost: about $3,000,000. The Peel P50 is the world’s smallest automobile and is powered by a 4 horsepower engine and reach speeds of 38 miles per hour (MPH). The P50 is 59” long, 38” wide and weighs only 130 pounds. Built during the 1960s in the United Kingdom.

Worlds Biggest Engine - The Wartsila-Sulzer RTA96-C Facts on the 14 cylinder version: Total engine weight: 2300 tons (crankshaft weighs 300 tons.) Length: 89 feet Height: 44 feet Max power: 108,920 hp at 102 rpm Fuel consumption at maximum economy is lbs/hp/hour. Even at its most efficient power setting, the big 14 consumes 1,660 gallons of heavy fuel oil per hour. 40,000 gallons a day!!! Used in ships One day of fuel

Nanocar from Rice University Nanocar is constructed by building a molecule has four wheels that are free to rotate when attached to a gold surface. When heated to about 200 degrees, the wheels become mobile and an engine built into the center of the chassis rotates when light is shone on the molecule. This is an excellent example of molecular and chemical engineering

Rollercoasters The Incredible Express is located at John’s Incredible Pizza Company in Roseville, Ca. and measures only 40’ in length. The Steel Dragon 2000 is located at Nagashima Spa Land amusement park in Mie Prefecture, Japan. It is the longest roller coaster in the world measuring at 8,133’.

Bicycles The largest bicycle “Le Diable” was created by Didi Senft 25’ 7” long and 12’ 2” high. Zbigniew Rozanek of Pleszew, Poland built a mini-bike and on August 11 th, 1998 rode it a total of 16 feet. The back wheel on the world's smallest bicycle was.51 inches in diameter, and the even smaller front wheel was just.43 inches in diameter.

Phones The largest functioning mobile phone is a scaled up Samsung SCH-r450. It measures 15 x 11.2 x 2.5 ft. It was achieved by Cricket Communications and Samsung Mobile, and was unveiled at an event coordinated by creative agency Neverstop in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 11 March Modu Phone created by Modu Mobile, holds the Guinness world record for the world’s smallest cell phone. Modu has a remarkable 0.3 inch thickness and weighs of 1.37 ounces. It measures 2.83” x 1.45”. It also has the feature of expandable functionality that allows users to transform Modu cell phone in to a Gaming Smartphone or Music player mobile.
