OUR MISSION: To guide those far from God into the new start found in Jesus Christ.

Communion 1Corinthians 11:23-25

1Corinthians 11:23-25 “The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me. In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, this cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” Communion Why do we do things the way that we do?

The Pot Roast Story Communion Why do we do things the way that we do? What would you do, if you gathered your loved ones and you had one last chance to speak into their lives? So what does Holy Communion mean to us today?

Koinonia [Greek] = participation or sharing or literally - communion / a common union Communion Why do we do things the way that we do? Vulnerability Philippians 2:6-7 “Who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.” “of no reputation” = kenosis [Greek] Literally - to make empty

Participating with Jesus Communion Koinonia Participating in a common experience 1Corinthians 10:16 “Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?” Participating in the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ

Look within Communion Firstly… the Lord’s Supper encourages us to… 1Corinthians 11:28-29 “That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honouring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself.” (NLT) Examine your inward life What is the practical application?

Look back Communion Secondly… the Lord’s Supper encourages us to… Exodus 12:26-27 And when your children ask you, 'What does this ceremony mean to you?' then tell them, 'It is the Passover sacrifice to the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.' Then the people bowed down and worshipped. Luke 22:19b “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” What ‘God Memory’ is special to you?

Look ahead Communion Thirdly… the Lord’s Supper encourages us to… 1 Corinthians 11:26 “For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.” 1 John 2:26 “For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.” (NLT) Matthew 26:29 “I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom.”
