Win Some, Lose Some Be a Good Sport and a Good Friend Created by Beth Vorhaus, (2013) Nashville, Tennessee: Team Tennessee, Tennessee Voices for Children
I like playing games at school! We play games in gym or outside at recess. We sometime play games in our classroom to learn.
I like when I can play games with my friends. When we play together, usually someone has to win and someone has to lose.
When I lose I feel frustrated, sad or mad because I wanted to win.
It is okay to feel this way: when I lose, but I need to remember… Playing games with my friends should be fun!
If I lose, I can think of a compliment to say to my friend who won: I am frustrated because I lost, but you played a great game! I am sad because I really wanted to win, but you are really good player. Good job, maybe I can win next time! Way to go! Awesome game! Congratulations Can we play again? I am mad, but maybe you can show me how you won.
If, I win I feel excited, happy, & because I like to win.
But I need to remember, my friend lost! It is okay to feel:My friend lost and might feel: I should not brag and boast because I won. Excited Emocionado But I need to remember:
If I win, I can think of a compliment to say to my friend who lost: You played a great game, it was fun !. Boy that was a tough game, would you like to play again? Good game it was fun to play together! Good Job! Way to go! That was a hard game! Thanks for playing with me! Good game!
When I play a game, some times I win and some times I lose. I need to remember playing games with my friends is fun and I can win or lose. But, if I use compliments about how my friend played when I win or lose, my friends will want to play with me again!
