What Did He Do During The Time He Was In Charge? During the time he was president he kicked out all the former government and elected military officers for the places of the former government. His rule was through arrest, inprisonment and execution of dissenters, press cesorship and the development of a police state. When Abacha travelled he never was seen without 2000 to 3000 bodyguards. In his rule he stole about US dollars or 4 billion US dollars.

How Did Abacha Lose Power? In the year 1995 he anounced a programe which would return the civilian rule over nigeria with normal government by the year Elections were planned for August in that year. But in that year Abacha died unexpectedly over a heart attack but there are rumors of other death.
