Monday, March 21 st : “A” Day Agenda  Go over Chapter 13 review/collect  Chapter 13 review game  Homework: Chapter 13 crossword puzzle Next time: Concept Review/Crossword Puzzle Due Chapter 13 Test

Chapter 13 Review  Questions/Problems?

Chapter 13 Review 1.What is the molarity of a solution that contains 100 g NaCl in 3.00 L of solution? 0.57 M 2.An NaOH solution contains 1.50 mol NaOH, and its concentration is M. What is its volume? 2.61 L

Chapter 13 Review 3.Two immiscible substances are: 1.Water and ammonia 2.Benzene and water 3.Carbon tetrachloride and benzene 4.Water and ethanol

Chapter 13 Review 4.Pressure has the greatest effect on the solubility of 1.Solids in liquids 2.Liquids in liquids 3.Gases in gases 4.Gases in liquids

Chapter 13 Review 5.Colligative properties depend on 1.The identity of the solute particles 2.The concentration of the solute particles 3.The physical properties of the solute particles 4.The boiling point and freezing point of the solution

Chapter 13 Review 6.Compared with a 0.02 M sugar solution, a 0.02 M NaCl solution has 1.The same freezing point depression 2.About 2X the freezing point depression 3.About 3X the freezing point depression 4.About 4X the freezing point depression

Chapter 13 Review 7.How many grams of NaCl are required to prepare 500 mL of a M solution? 14.6 g NaCl 8.How many liters of M HCl can be made from a stock bottle that contains 5 L of 12 M HCl? 240 L

5 Short Answer Test Questions  These are, word for word, the 5 questions that you will see on the Chapter 13 test next time: 1.Describe the process of paper chromatography. 2.Describe the difference between a solute and a solvent. 3.Why is it possible to overdose on Vitamin A but not on Vitamin C? 4.Why is soap a good emulsifying agent? 5.Why is detergent a better choice than soap for laundering with hard water?

Review Game  We will be playing a game similar to Password.  Move all the desks into a big circle.  There will be 2 teams.  You will sit in a circle, alternating team 1, team 2, etc.  The object of the game is to answer questions quickly and pass the deck to the other team.

Review Game  There will be a deck of index cards with Chapter 13 info on them.  You will need to give clues WITHOUT SAYING ANY OF THE WORDS ON THE CARD so that your teammates can guess the vocab. word, definition, phase, etc. on the card  Once your team has the correct answer, pass the deck of cards to the person on your left.  The other team then does the same process of giving clues/guessing what’s on the card.

Review Game  There are some cards that say “reverse” on them. If you get that card, simply pass the deck back to the person who just gave it to you.  There are some cards that say “wildcard” on them. If you get that card, you can choose someone on your own team to give the deck to.  There are some cards that say “lose 1 point” on them. If you get that card, your team will lose a point (which is a good thing!) and the clock will stop.

Review Game  There are some cards that say “free pass” on them. If you get that card, simply pass the deck on to the next person.  Some cards don’t have anything to do with Chapter 13 or even this class…

Review Game  If the person with the deck doesn’t know how to give a clue or doesn’t know what the card means, they can ask the teammate to their right.  If that person can’t help, then that team will be out of luck.  After 1-3 minutes, the timer will run out and the team that’s holding the deck will receive a point.  Each person on the team with the LEAST points at the end of the game will get $1 mole money.

Homework  Chapter 13 vocabulary crossword Don’t forget: Chapter 13 test and Concept review due NEXT TIME!
