North Carolina By: Christian Cramer & Alex Rainey

The Founder of North Carolina North Carolina was founded in 1653 The Colony founder was King Charles the 2 nd, but he gave the area to eight businessman.

How The Founder Ended Up Owning The Land The eight businessmen were more interested in making money from the colony than in governing it. So Thomas Jarvis, the first deputy governor ruled the colony wisely and gained the colonists’ acceptance. So all in all Thomas Jarvis really ended up ruling the land.

What The Founder Wanted To Use The Land For The eight businessmen wanted to use the land to make money. However Thomas Jarvis wanted to use the land for economic reasons and for religious reasons.

The Colony’s Significance to Early America Tobacco is North Carolina’s leading field crop and that is what got them on the map. Cotton is the second leading field crop in North Carolina

A Nickname For North Carolina “The Old North State” is one of its original nicknames “The Tar Heel State” is also a nickname it has. If I would make one up for North Carolina it would be “The Mountain State” I would give it that nickname because the mountains there are so nice and breath taking
