1. Biography of Greco: Domenikos Theotokopoulos, (Candia, Toledo, 1614), known as El Greco ("the Greek"), The first he was a late Renaissance painter who developed a very personal style in his mature works. Until the 26 years he lived in Crete, where he was a popular teacher posbizantino style icons in force in the island. After he lived ten years in Italy, where the Renaissance became first painter in Venice, fully assuming the style of Titian and Tintoretto, and then in Rome, studying Michelangelo's mannerism. In 1577 he settled in Toledo, where he lived and worked the rest of his life.

2. Importance of El Greco: El Greco is regarded as one of the great geniuses of world art, and great figure painting in Spain in the late XVI century. His form began to be claimed in the Peninsula with the study of his work published in 1808 by Cossio, but especially by the interest expressed by him, expressionists and fauves late XIX century. It was a Mannerist painter who conducted such a great work not created school. He was one of the greatest portraitists of the story.

3. Some works of the Greco: it is a oil on canvas, it painted in mannerist style by El Greco between the years 1586 and It was made for the parish of Santo Tomé in Toledo, Spain, and is preserved in this place. It is considered one of the best and most admired works of the author.

This work is painted at tempo, it painted shortly after the arrival of El Greco in Rome. El Greco used similar tones to the Venetian painters of the Renaissance.
