The Beautiful Irish Woman – Gustave Corbert “The Beautiful Irish Woman” by Gustave Corbet, is a soulful piece of realist art from the 1800’s. It shows one of the true concepts of realism, the real or natural state of the model. I believe this was a successful painting, because it shows her strong features and does not idolize her. That is what makes her truly beautiful.
Noonday Rest – Jean-Francois Millet “Noonday Rest” is the perfect display of realism. Realism is about showing people or objects in their true form. The two people sleeping show the hard their life is. I believe this work to be successful, because it has a large emotional impact.
