Past and Future of Realism Home Realism originated from European romanticism. Romanticism was also a French art form, the difference between Realism and Romanticism being that Realism focused mainly on middle class citizens. The official founders of Realism (The Barbizon school) were Narcisse Diaz de la Pena, Constant Troyon, Jules Dupre, Theodore Rousseau, and Charles- Francois Daubigny. It shows one of the true concepts of realism, the real or natural state of the model. I believe this was a successful painting, because it shows her strong features and does not idolize her. That is what makes her truly beautiful.

Noonday Rest – Jean-Francois Millet “Noonday Rest” is the perfect display of realism. Realism is about showing people or objects in their true form. The two people sleeping show the hard their life is. I believe this work to be successful, because it has a large emotional impact.
