What are some things you can prove about Hanna Montana that are true? What do you think about Hanna Montana?

Fact is a statement that can be proven to be true Destiny Hope Cyrus (better known as Miley - short for Smiley) got her optimistic name because her parents (country singer - Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Tish Cyrus) expected great things from their little one. Miley successfully played “Young Ruthie” on the film, “Big Fish”. Disney was interested in her and eventually developed the role of Miley Stewart on Hannah Montana.Hannah Montana went on to be a great show and launched Miley’s dynamic recording career with the release of the Hannah Montana Soundtrack. Her extraordinary disc went all the way to number one on the US charts. What is a fact again? Identify a fact from the passage. How do you know that is a fact?

Her extraordinary disc went all the way to number one on the US charts. What is an opinion again? Identify a opinion from the passage. How do you know that is an opinion?

The Importance of Fact and Opinion Good readers know when authors write statements that can be proven to be true, or when it’s a statement that reflects how the author thinks or feels.

How can we tell the difference or distinguish between fact and opinion? Fact To see if something is a fact ask yourself can this statement be proven? Ex: There are eight 4 th grade classes at Pacoima Charter. Opinion To check for opinions ask yourself does this tell a thought or feeling. Would the statement be true all of the time? Ex: 4 th grade is the best grade at Pacoima Charter! Look for clues or signal words such as feel, believe, always, never, none, most, least, best, and worst. And other adjectives

Did you get it? Use your white boards to tell me whether or not my statement is a fact or opinion. Write F for fact and O for opinion. Explain why you chose fact or opinion.
