Powerpoint by Ms. Lawson c REBECCA CAUDILL YOUNG READERS’ BOOK AWARD
WHAT IS THE REBECCA CAUDILL AWARD? This award was developed to encourage children and young adults to read for personal enjoyment. The award is named in honor of Rebecca Caudill who lived and wrote in Urbana, Illinois, for nearly 50 years. The award is given in recognition of her literary talent and the universal appeal of her books which have touched the hearts of many children and young adults. The Rebecca Caudill Award is unique because: Students in grades 4-8 from the state of Illinois are the only people who may nominate books for each year's list. ONLY students in grades 4-8 from the state of Illinois may vote for the award winning title.

YOU CAN BEGIN READING! You must read at least three titles to be eligible to vote. I will ask you a few questions to make sure you read and understood the book. We vote in February, so you have lots of time! Dogs on Duty and The One and Only Ivan are on both the Bluestem and the Caudill lists this year, so reading them counts for both. If your teacher reads one or more Caudill books aloud to the class, those count, too… and you don’t have to answer my questions about the book(s). Just tell me when your class has finished!
