Relay For Life Out and About

La Junta, Colo. - While everyone is thinking about presents and garland, lights and feasts, the committee members of the Arkansas Valley Relay For Life are thinking about cancer. Cancer that never sleeps. Cancer that never takes a vacation. Cancer that is around all the time – holidays included. That is why the Arkansas Valley Relay For Life committee members have put together a “fun”draiser for the holiday season. This year, when you drive around admiring the houses with the perfectly spaced lights, the beautiful Nativity sets and the enormous, inflatable yard displays, you may see a decoration that just doesn’t belong. You may see a hideous Grinch hiding out in your yard. This is not just any ordinary Grinch. This is the Cancer Grinch. So, what do you do if you find this Cancer Grinch in your yard? Well, don’t panic. He won’t steal your Who- hash or your Roast Beast. He is only there to help raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Here’s what you do. To remove the Grinch from your yard, simply call the number that is on the back of the Grinch. Someone will come to your house and collect a donation of $5 to have it removed. If you would like to purchase insurance to guarantee that it does not come back to your yard, simply pay an additional $5, and if you would like to choose whose yard it goes to next, all you have to do is add another $5. It’s that easy and all of the proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society to support programs in our area and help fund research to someday find a cure for cancer. All donations are tax exempt. If you do not wish to participate, simply call the number on the back of the Grinch and someone will come to remove it for you.
