The Winds of Change A hurricane force of technology impacting our students, our teachers, our district, and our tomorrow.

Irving ISD is the only district in Texas to be awarded a full "Vertical Team" portion of a TEA technology grant called the Texas Technology Immersion Pilot Program. Irving High School, de Zavala Middle School, and Lively Elementary School will share $800,000 over a two-year period to implement the program. Irving ISD Wins $800,000 Technology Grant

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE of the TIP GRANT? The purpose of the grant is to explore the impact of technology immersion on student achievement by providing each student with a wireless mobile computing device, and integrating software, online resources, and other appropriate learning technologies. Being part of the TIP Grant resulted in each K-3 student receiving an AlphaSmart and each 4-5 grade student receiving a laptop in November The students were very excited about receiving a laptop. As one student said when he received his laptop, "This is one of the best days of my school life!"

LIVELY’S KATRINA PROJECT

FOOD CAN DRIVE The can drive will benefit IRVING CARES a local non- profit organization that supplies food for the Katrina evacuees that are living in Irving.

Timeline: October Grade level discussion on age-appropriate projects. October 21- Grade level leaders will send Judy grade level’s decision for grade level student projects. October 24-November 16- Students will work on content area integrated projects. Early November - Can Food Drive begins. November 16-Can Food Drive ends. November (up until 10:30 on the 18th) Walking Museum Display of projects. Classes will tour displays and projects in the hallways.
