Arizona : Nations and Art Arizona Vocabulary Terms

Artifact A whole or part of something made by humans. Such as a tool or a piece of pottery from an earlier time.

Cliff Dwelling Homes or village carved into a cliff, which is a high steep side of a rock.

Pueblo Spanish for town. The name of Native American nations which lived in villages made of adobe.

Mesa Spanish word for plateau, a flat topped mountain with at least one steep side.

Canyon A deep narrow valley with high steep sides.

Tribe A group of people who share a common ancestor, customs, traditions and follow the same leaders.
