The Defeat of the Armada Why Spain declined as a ‘world’ Power

Henry the VIII Henry the VIII started to rock the boat by rejecting the Catholic Church and forming his own!

Mary Takes the Reigns! Unifying England’s bond with Spain, Mary was a devout Catholic and married King Phillip the II. She was not too terribly popular with Protestants Bloody Mary

The Woes of England Henry had been more preoccupied with his marriage bed and producing an heir rather than, running a nation. Elizabeth had a country that was on the point of bankruptcy!

Privateers to the Rescue! To fill the royal coffers, Elizabeth authorized the formation of ‘Joint Stock Companies’. Private enterprises with a royal cut! Further she authorized the raiding of Spanish ships under royal protection, Privateers The seadog himself, Sir Francis drake His daring raid on the Port of Cadiz considerably delayed the launching of the Armada

Ok so now he is getting upset Phillip, for want of a better word, was essentially being ‘played’ by Elizabeth and he issued an ultimatum rejected by Elizabeth so…… elisabeth

He sent in the Big Guns
