Define Discuss: State thesis statement and scope: modification of the assertion, stating the extent of agreement Divide: Provide a brief summary of the factors discussed in the essay.

 “It was the defeat of the Germans which revived old differences between the US and USSR and thereby precipitating the outbreak of the Cold War.” To what extent is this interpretation of the outbreak of Cold War accurate?  Analyse the question and identify the key words that require definition

 Cold War is regarded as a conflict between USSR and USA or between communism and capitalism due to suspicion, distrust and conflicting interests. The defeat of the Germans was the main cause of the outbreak of the Cold War. Even though the defeat of Germany led to the breakup of the “marriage of convenience” and tension post-war aims and suspicions between them. caused by Soviet’s Germany occupation police, I agree to a small extent that the defeat of the Germans was the main cause of the outbreak of the Cold War because the history of distrust between the two superpowers (USSR and USA) gave rise to different post- war aims and suspicions. In addition, the different post- war aims led the superpowers to develop hostile foreign policies towards each other. Furthermore, both superpowers attempted to spread their ideologies to the newly independent countries to gain allies and attain world supremacy. Read the introduction above and identify the portions that 1)Define 2)Divide 3)Discuss
