Activity – Do not eat your candy!!!! If you are a serf you need to go walk up and down the stairs 3 times. I’m not kidding. Everyone else find a comfortable spot. Stair climbing represents harvesting the crops.

The crops are in Everyone gets 10 pennies to represent their crops. For easy accounting, keep the pennies you started with separate from the pennies you get from your vassals.

Time to pay up Serfs spend some of their time working for their lords, so much of the harvest belongs to him. Each serf needs to pay his lord or knight 8 pennies.

Pay it up Lords and knights owe allegiance and taxes to their lords (the Count and the Duke). Each knight and lord needs to pay 6 pennies for each 8 collected from the serfs. For example, if you have 3 serfs under you, you owe your lord 18 pennies.

Now for the king The Count and the Duke still owe the king. For every 6 pieces you collected from your vassal you need to pay the king 4.

The church collects its due… Serfs owe one penny Knights and Lords owe 2 Count and Duke owe 3 King owes 4
