© 2005 Pearson Education Inc., publishing as Longman Publishers Topics  A topic is the general subject matter of a reading passage.  The topic is who or what the passage is about.  The topic can be stated in one word or a few words.  What is the topic of this paragraph? Our truck makes everyday life easier. In our truck, we can haul furniture, tools, camping equipment, and even trash. Most often we fill its bed full of the equipment used by the girls in our daughter’s hockey team. It also provides room to haul home a month’s worth of groceries.
