Rabies is caused by a virus. If an animal with rabies bites you, the virus can get into your body. The virus attacks the central nervous system. If someone has the virus, without special treatment there is nearly 100% chance of death.

Brain Spinal cord The central nervous system controls everything we do, therefore it is very important! Due to its importance, anything that can damage the central nervous system can be fatal

As the virus attacks the central nervous system, the body shows different symptoms.

Symptoms Headache, fever, sore throat Confusion and nervousness Hallucinations Hydrophobia Paralysis Death

Do you know how to recognize a dog with rabies? A dog with rabies may become aggressive and irritable. Or may become unusually friendly.

Dogs may not be able to walk properly. They may show extra- saliva around the mouth. A change in voice is possible

How can not letting your pet out on their own help? Pets out on their own are more likely to catch rabies from infected animals A pet with rabies may not show symptoms immediately, but could still pass on the disease.

Vaccinations Vaccination against rabies is quick and easy. If enough animals are vaccinated, rabies can be eliminated. Anti-rabies vaccination certificate
