Presentation transcript:

 Lyme disease is a bacterial infection spread through the bite of the blacklegged tick.  Blacklegged ticks carry these bacteria. The ticks pick up the bacteria when they bite mice or deer that are infected with Lyme disease.  You can get the disease if you are bitten by an infected tick.

1) Rash 2) Hair loss 3) Head ache, or even seizures 4) Stiff neck/Muscle pains 5) Buzzing in ears 6) Stinging or itchy around the area 7) Blurry vision/chills 8) Fever 9) Shortness of breath 10) Major mood swings

 Mainly just antibiotics  The cure for Lyme disease generally consists of taking antibiotics for a few weeks.  Certain forms of Lyme disease may require treatment with intravenous (IV) antibiotics.  Doesn’t help until at least days after

 When the bug bites, you don’t feel it a few days after it happened  The “bullseye rash” doesn’t occur until after 30 or more days after the bite  Can start off as a bubble:

 The bug bites you and lets liquid into your body  The infection usually only happens in the outside of your body  The infect n is able to get into your blood, if this happens, you must go to the hospital
