The Respiratory System The Respiratory System

The Cough … The Cold A defense mechanism Reaction to a foreign body (a virus, a bacteria for a irritant) A symptom of allergic rhinitis and other respiratory diseases - Mucuos Production - Sticks the foreign body ready for removal via cough - Symptom tandem with cough..

THE FLU Flu/ Influenza (Trangkaso) - Infection of the Upper airways - Acquired thru airborne inhalation - manifested as cough and colds with expectorated greenish to yellowish phlegm, associated with fever, joint pains and body weakness - It may start as a viral condition but if not addressed well, it would progress to a bacterial infection

THE FLU -Initially treatment would involve increase of intake of fluids - Later would involve anti-biotic treatment. (Amoxicillin 500mg 3x a day for 1 week or Co- trimoxazole 400mg/80mg 2 x a day for 1 week) Prevention: 1. Good fluid intake 2. Ample vitamin C and strengthen your health status 3. Avoid crowded places 4. Vaccination (Influenza vaccine 0.5ml once a year)
