Define the Problem In billion gift cards were produced in the world. During that year only 9% of all the plastic in the U.S. was recycled. This means the U.S. as a nation recycled less than 3 of every 33 gift cards the world produced.
Brainstorm Research and Generate We were assigned a gift card to repurpose for use as a fashion accessory. Some ideas: necklace bracelet phone accessories comb floss picks
Criteria and Constraints The gift card could not be turned into trash art We had to come up with two products The product had to be a fashion accessory Must come up with primary and secondary products Design packaging
Develop, Propose and Choose from Alternatives We chose our best few option of: necklace, bracelet, and comb, and floss picks Narrowed down the options to either a comb or floss picks Primary product we chose is the comb
Implement Proposed Solution We started brainstorming different models of our comb Different ideas included: just cutting bristles making a design that folds double sided comb
