Catholic Moral Teaching in Scripture: The _____________ Covenant

In the Gospel of Luke, the parable of the Good Samaritan is introduced with the Great Commandment (cited by Jesus in Matthew 22:35–40. The two commandments are also found in Mark 12:28–34 and Luke 10:25–28.)

Behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested him, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" He answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind [Deuteronomy 6:5]; and your neighbor as yourself [Leviticus 19:18]." He said to him, "You have answered correctly. Do this, and you will live." But he, desiring to justify himself, asked Jesus, "Who is my _____________ ?" — Luke 10:25–29

“The first Great Commandment, Love your _____________ with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength, is a pretty good summary of the _____________ _____________ commandments of the Decalogue.

And the second Great Commandment: Love your _____________ as yourself summarizes the last 7 commandments of the Decalogue. Jesus highlights these 2 commandments and the New Law is called the Law of Love or the New _____________.”

In response to “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus replies with the story of the _____________ _____________.

According to the Gospel of Luke, a traveller (who may or may not be Jewish) is beaten, robbed, and left half dead along the road.
