 It was established for former slaves. It’s capital was Monrofovia, named after president Monroe. They support the return of free Americans to what was considered greater freedom in Africa.

 A slave uprising that killed anywhere from “55 to 65” people. This was rated as the highest number of fatalities caused by any slave uprising in the American South. Led By Nat Turner. August year of  The rebellion of Nat Turner affected the south and the north and made them gain paranoia him and they tightened slave codes.

 “Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where anyone class made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.  Born in Talbot County, Maryland. The loss of his mother when at the age of ten. Birthday unknown, chosen to celebrate on February 14 th. He was an African American reformer, orator, writer amd statesman. Many Northerners also found it hard to believe that such a great orator had once been a slave.  William Garrison was his close friend. Frederick helped with his newspaper.

 Born December the 12 th year Died on May the 24 th  A prominent American abolitionist, journalist, suffragist, and social reformer.  Best known as the editor of the abolitionist news paper “The Liberator” which was founded in 1831 and published in Massachusetts until slavery was abolished by Constitutional amendment after the American Civil War.  One of the founders of Anti Slavery Society.  Extremely radical views and was constantly threatened because of his actions toward the abolition.

 Underground railroad was the system of escape routes for the escaping slaves.  Harriet Tubman was the most important conductor of the underground railroad because she made 19 round trips to help 300 slaves escape from slavery.  The Underground railroad was the Primary escape route because it was the largest route and connected slaves to the north, the free states.

 She Brought the “horrors of slavery” she acknowledged the lives of Americans on how awful slavery was.  She showed her point of view of slavery  Her lifetime hatred to slavery increased their protests on slavery.  The book was also a indirect attack on the south.

 The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 called for that all escaped slaves that upon capture that they were to be returned to their masters and that officials and citizens of free states had to cooperate in this law.  This law was nicknamed the “Bloodhound law”  Northern states were against this law because it wouldn’t allow the escaped slaves to be free.  Southern states were for it because the slaves that they lost had to come back and be slaves, no more being free.  It made it to where slaves could not come to the north and be free, angered the north.

 Brown and his men seized prominent citizens and seized the federal armory, and arsenal.  Hoped the slave population would join the fight, but that never happened.  Brown was captured by Colonel Robert E. Lee.  Placed on trial and was hung December 2 nd,  He was viewed as a radical by each side, south viewed him as a criminal and a threat.  The north viewed him as a heroic freedom fighter.
