Famous Rocks By Luke Davis Year

The Breadknife Is a rare, straight wall of jagged rock, nearly 100m high and 600 m long. The base of the mountain is made of sandstone while the rocky outcrops are the remains of the liquid lava of a shield volcano. The sandstone was formed 180 million years ago. The volcano was active million years ago. Volcanic activity and erosion have created the shape of the Breadknife. The breadknife is located in the Warrumbungle Nation Park in NSW. The Giant’s Causeway The giants causeway is an area of interlocking basalt columns. The tallest column is 12m. The giants causeway is made of basalt. During the tertiary period some 62 to 65 MYA igneous activity formed the giants causeway. Lava flowed into a valley. When it cooled it made columns. Many columns have names the giants boots, camel humps and the chimney stacks. the giants boots are below.
