MRC Medical Task Forces Definition – professionals and support personnel, trained to respond Mission - to respond to a disaster in support of existing resources At least one team in each county, rotating and deployed as necessary Team composition – residence, license status, ability to respond within county Training in ICS, triage, basic life support, disaster behavioral health and more, depending on assignment and interests.

MRC Medical Task Force Types General Medical Task Forces Specialized Task Forces

General Medical Task Forces Respond to all types of disasters in triage area, hospital or clinic Perform triage, basic life support, first aid, administer medication and comfort victims Each task force composed of: 2 physicians 3 nurses 1 mental health professional 1 allied health professional 3 non-medical volunteers

Specialized Medical Task Forces  Screen recipients for appropriateness  Give injections and vaccinations and dispense oral medications  Composed of medical and non-medical volunteers  Provide public education, crisis intervention for victims and critical incident stress management for MRC and health department  Composed of mental health professionals and trained, non- professional peer support under supervision Mental Health Task Forces Mass Immunization Task Forces

How Disaster Management Works in Florida In the field At the emergency operations center

Where We Fit In EMS and/or hospitals call for help Health Department deploys MRC Task Force Members bring selves, ID badges to CHD CHD issues safety vests, name tags, and staging form, then transports to location Task Force checks in to Incident Command and receives assignment When assignment completed, task force reports back to Incident Command - either gets new task or released. Members debriefed by MRC mental health task force
