FUN FACTS Vermont was the largest producer of maple syrup in the U.S. In ratio of cows to people, Vermont has the greatest amount of dairy cows in the country. Vermont was at various times, claimed by both New Hampshire and New York.

Timeline In 1872, President Calvin Coolidge was born in Plymouth, on the first of July. In 1918, women get to vote in town elections. In 1996, Vermont was the only state without a Wal-Mart in the country.
