When he came down from being in the presence of God his face actually glowed from being in the radiant, glorious presence of God. Exodus 20 Elijah met God in a showdown on Mt. Carmel and he called fire down from heaven and had victory over Baal and his false prophets. 1 Kings 18 It describes a dramatic meeting with God that out of it flows such joy and peace that eclipses any other event in our life. Are times when God gives powerful, personal encounters with His people.

Mountaintop experience defined: A temporary, uncommon encounter with God that is meant to give us a fresh awareness of the reality of His nearness. It involves our: 1) Mind: I learn something new about God’s person. 2) Emotions: I feel something. I am overcome with a sense of the greater reality of God and His nearness to me. It’s like in my spirit eye I see behind the veil. 3) Will: God is not into extreme events for the thrill of it. When God shows up it is so we will be different. When I come down off that mountain I am impacted in the reality of what I know, what I feel, and what I do.
