MALE AND FEMALE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD GEN 1-2

DEFINITIONS EGALITARIANISM – Men and women are created equal and should have the same rights and opportunities. We should share identical authority and responsibilities in marriage, religion and elsewhere or else men and women are of intrinsically different worth.

DEFINITIONS COMPLEMENTARIANISM – God has created men and women equal in their essential dignity and human personhood, but different and complementary in function with male headship in the home and in the Church.

DEFINITIONS MALE HEADSHIP – In the partnership of two spiritually equal human beings, man and woman, the man bears the primary responsibility to lead the partnership in a God-glorifying direction.

DEFINITIONS MALE DOMINATION - The antithesis to male headship is male domination which is the assertion of man’s will over the woman’s will heedless of her spiritual equality, her rights, and her value.

MALE AND FEMALE ARE EQUAL IN PERFECTION GEN 1:26-27

GEN 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

GEN 1:24 And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so.

GEN 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

GEN 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

GEN 1:29 Then God said, "I give you every seed- bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

MALE AND FEMALE ARE DIFFERENT IN POSITIONS GEN 2:18-25

GEN 2:18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
