CHALLENGES FOR LIBRARIAN TO BE CYBRARIAN As now, move is from holdings to access, librarians are to be disseminators of information rather than the custodian of information. CONCLUSION In the digital world, library professionals have to upgrade their professional skills in order to exploit the opportunities and be able to use the information for the benefit of the user community.Cybrarian functions more as steersman or navigator than mere as keeper. The main difference between librarian and Cybrarian is cybrarians ’ willingness to venture beyond the edges of the personal known world in order to do work. It is rightly said “ In a sea of information in the future, librarian will not be those who provide the water, but those who navigate the ship. ” For this, he needs excellent planning, management techniques and analytical skills. In the digital world, library professionals have to upgrade their professional skills in order to exploit the opportunities and be able to use the information for the benefit of the user community.Cybrarian functions more as steersman or navigator than mere as keeper. The main difference between librarian and Cybrarian is cybrarians ’ willingness to venture beyond the edges of the personal known world in order to do work.
