Question Question: To what extent is it justified to characterize the industrial leaders of the era as either “robber barons” or “industrial statesmen”? An argumentative paper makes a claim about a topic and justifies this claim with specific evidence. The claim could be an opinion, a policy proposal, an evaluation, a cause- and-effect statement, or an interpretation. The goal of the argumentative paper is to convince the audience that the claim is true based on the evidence provided.

Outline Introduction Paragraph * background information about the industrial revolution & rise of the industrial statesman Age of new industry: later 1800’s, new technology, methods of manufacturing, establishment of corporations (Trusts), Industrialist: Vanderbilt, Morgan, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Edison

A thesis is a statement that reflects what you have concluded about the topic of your paper, based on a critical analysis and interpretation of the source materials you have examined.
