NWACC Library Instruction Program Teaching information literacy skills for academic success and lifelong learning

“Students can employ a variety of sources to locate, evaluate, and use information.” NWACC College Catalog NWACC College Catalog, p. 58 NWACC faculty identified information literacy as one of eight primary student learning outcomes for general education.

NWACC Library Instruction Program at a Glance FY14 2,127 Library instruction class session attendance ( 135 sessions) 67 Open information literacy workshops attendance ( 12 workshops) 33 Professional development workshop attendance ( 3 PD Workshops) FY08-FY14 11,169 Library instruction class session attendance ( 713 sessions) 265 Open information literacy workshops attendance ( 31 workshops) 599* Professional development workshop attendance ( 52 PD Workshops) *These numbers declined after library professional development was eliminated from the mandatory new employee orientation process.

From FY08 to FY14, the number of library instruction sessions rose 145%.

From FY08 to FY14, the attendance at library instruction sessions grew 116%.

In FY12, the instruction program expanded to NWACC satellite campuses. In FY13, the Library began offering customized online instruction recordings.
