What is Persuasive Writing  A persuasive essay is one which tries to convince a reader to believe what the writer believes about a certain topic. It tells the writer’s opinion and why the reader should agree.

1. The purpose of a persuasive essay is to: a. To inform and explain b. To tell a story c. To convince the reader of something d. To summarize what you just read

What is included in a Persuasive Essay?  A Persuasive Essay will have the following:  An Introduction—grab the reader’s attention and briefly tell what the essay is about. (1 paragraph)  A Body—develop three or more main points each in a separate paragraphs, with supporting details and a closing sentence. Also, try to anticipate the opposing argument, and refute it. (3 paragraphs)  A Conclusion—wrap up the topic and bring the essay to a satisfying close. (1 paragraph) (Total Paragraphs 5)
