OFSTED June 2013 The Sixth Form is good. Students receive very good advice and guidance and achieve well as a result of challenging teaching. Achievement in the Sixth Form is continuing to improve. Leaders have taken effective steps to ensure that students are given good advice and guidance on entry and the quality of teaching is checked carefully. Teaching in the Sixth Form is good; lessons are well planned and designed to challenge individual students at their appropriate level. The advice and guidance provided to students on entry to the Sixth Form means they have a realistic view of the demands of the courses they are choosing. Achievement continues to improve.

ALIS exit questionnaire May 14: How do you now feel about having chosen to do the courses at John Bentley Sixth Form? I feel good as I already knew the teachers and felt comfortable enough to approach them for help and guidance on my work. I knew I wanted to stay at JBS for Sixth Form from the start of Year 10 because I knew all the staff, surroundings and I enjoyed my time here. I really liked the atmosphere created, it made Sixth Form an enjoyable experience. I looked around before I chose JBS, and I am really comfortable and happy studying here. I think that JBS is a great Sixth Form and I am pleased I chose here. I think choosing to study the courses here was the right choice.

The Difference Between A’ Level and GCSE..... Much more enjoyable – choice of study But Much, much harder. Students will need to work SO much harder than last year.

Students should aim to match the time inside the classroom with private study time. They should be spending 4.5 hours per week per A’ Level subject (18 hours per week). They should be spending at least two hours a week on other CV enhancing activities.
