Welcome to Middle School  This power point presentation is designed to answer some of your burning questions!

What do I do if I can’t get my locker open? Help! What do I do if I can’t get my locker open? Oh, man, I don’t want to be late for class!

What do I do if I can’t get my locker open? My teacher is going to be mad! 1.Ask a friend for help.

What do I do if I can’t get my locker open? They are going to start without me! 2. Tell a teacher.

What do I do if I can’t get my locker open? I need time to get my homework out! 3. Hail down a custodian!

Do..  Keep it organized  Keep it Clean Don’t…  Keep trash in it  Keep your wet bathing suit and towel in it overnight  Keep food or drinks overnight  Rig the lock

Locker shelves are very helpful in keeping your locker neat and organized.

What if I am absent?

When you are absent:  A parent should notify the office by 9:00 AM and pick up work between 2:00 and 4:00  The day you return, bring an excuse to the office and ask all your teachers for missed work

Do I have to take swimming?

YES!  Unless you have a medical excuse  Make up ALL missed classes

What do I need for gym class?

 Shorts  Tee shirt  Sneakers  Be prepared to go outside, weather permitting  After gym class it is suggested you take a shower  You will have a gym locker with a lock on it to keep your gym clothes in  Make up all missed classes

bullying  Bullying is an act of repeated aggressive behavior in order to intentionally hurt another person, physically or mentally.  Behaviors may include name calling, verbal or written abuse, exclusion from activities, exclusion from social situations, physical abuse, or coercion.

Bullying  When confronted by a bully: –There is power in Numbers!  Ask the bully to stop when surrounded by friends –Distract the bully  Ex: “Hey jon, we’re going to be late to class.” –Be confident, assertive, and stay calm  Tell the bully to “stop it!”, “Leave me alone!”, “whatever!”

bullying  Tell a teacher, counselor, or another faculty member when the previous methods do not stop the bullying  Help students you witness being bullied
