I enjoy my lessons thoroughly and it is a honour to work at such a wonderful school”. I really LOVE my sixth form lessons as I feel my teachers in ( Languages & Philosophy and Ethics) are all genuinely interested in their subjects and show such passion for them. I feel that they make my learning experience enjoyable and pleasant. I feel that sometimes we have too much work but I also feel that it keeps me motivated and up to date with the subject. I'm really proud to be a member of this fabulous learning environment.

Alternative Pathways

Alternatives to Sixth Form College Training Employment

Education College: – Opportunity to study a vocational course – leading to a specific area of work – May have different entry levels – Different way of learning – usually coursework based and mix of work experience – E.g. Animal, Land-based, Hairdressing, Construction – Wider age group – Travel costs

Training An Apprenticeship is a paid job with training to recognised qualification. – Expected to work the same hours as other employees – Attend college or training centre one day week (or block release) – Paid minimum wage of £2.73 but some employers pay more – Opportunity to study to Degree level

Employment To work full time for an employer or be self- employed, must include one day a week working towards an approved and nationally recognised qualification. Therefore this will depend on the type of work they are doing.

Things to consider - Visit open days, information events, careers fairs Are specific qualifications / subjects needed in order to study at university Check entry requirements Have back-up plan (especially if interested in apprenticeships) Education is free for 16 – 18 year olds (unless specialist course)
