 3 Year Progression in to PERSONAL TRAINING 1. Collyer’s Sixth Form Complete courses at Collyer’s such as BTEC L2 or L3 Sport, Sports Leader, CYQ Assistant Fitness Instructor, CYQ level 2 Fitness Instructor, Maths, English, Food and Nutrition, or PE. What else can I do to prepare for the apprenticeship? You can ensure you have level 2 in Maths and English, create a CV, gain some work experience, complete the Lifeguard course in a college holiday and visit us in the 4 A’s Centre so that we can start to help you find a work placement. 2. Collyer’s Apprenticeship hours work per week in a gym and courses at Collyer’s 4 A’s centre including CYQ Fitness Instructor, Level 2 Maths and English if not yet completed and an NVQ Diploma in Exercise and Fitness. You may need to be prepared to work your way up and assist in other Leisure roles. 3. Collyer’s Advanced Apprenticeship Qualify as a Personal Trainer including modules in Nutrition, Fitness Assessment and Instructing Outdoor Fitness, whilst working in a gym. Apprenticeships are free for under 18’s so ensure you sign up before your 19 th Birthday. They are 50% subsidised if you are 19 –24 but cannot be completed if you have a degree. Direct Entry if you currently have your Level 2 Fitness Instructor QR Code Jonny Northeast completed the Advanced apprenticeship before studying at university. He is now the Sports Scientist at Swansea City AFC: “Similar qualifications can be done in half the time but having the knowledge is half of what it takes to be successful.The confidence and ability to build a rapport with clients is vital in order for you to build a career. That year working in the industry gave me the cutting edge and a headstart in my career” Where next? University Leisure Management 1. Intermediate Apprenticeship If you are new to a role then you will start here and learn all the aspects of the job 2. Advanced Apprenticeship If you have been working in the area for a while or have done some qualifications in that area you can then move to advanced. Usually it is a supervisory role. 3. Higher Apprenticeship This is then the equivalent to the first year at university Levels of apprenticeships Progress in to work or go to University Some students leaving sixth form will start at this level But some can start at this level
