Mercury  Mercury was named for the swift Roman messenger god who wore winged sandals.  Mercury is a planet of extreme temperatures.  During the day, temperatures can reach over 800° F.

Venus  Venus is the second planet from the Sun.  Venus is 67 million miles (108 million kilometers ) from the Sun.  Venus has no moons.

Earth  Earth is the third planet from the Sun.  Earth is 93 million miles (149 million kilometers) from the Sun.  Earth only has 1 moon.

Mars  Mars is the 4 th planet from the Sun.  Mars is 141 million miles (227 million kilometers ) from the Sun.  Mars has 2 moons.

Jupiter  Jupiter is the 5 th planet from the Sun.  Jupiter is 483 million miles (778 million kilometers) from the Sun.  Jupiter has 16 known moons.

Saturn  Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun.  Saturn is 887 million miles (1 billion kilometers) from the Sun.  Saturn has at least 18 moons.

Uranus  Uranus is the 7 th planet from the Sun.  Uranus is 1 billion, 783 million miles (2 billion, 870 million kilometers) from the Sun.  Uranus has 5 large moons and 10 small moons.

Neptune  Neptune is 2 billion, 794 million miles (4 billion, 497 million kilometers) from the Sun.  Pluto has at least 8 moons.  A year on Neptune is 165 Earth-days.
