A Sustained Commitment to Education Mission: Intel is directly involved in education today to inspire and enable tomorrow’s innovation. Intel believes that students everywhere deserve to have the skills necessary to become the next generation of innovators Intel has invested over $1B and Intel employees have donated over 2.5M hours in the past decade towards improving education in over 50 countries We believe that teachers are the key and we invest in teacher professional development. We have trained over 11M teachers Intel’s commitment to education is longstanding and deep. Since the company was founded in 1968, Intel has been actively engaged in improving education and promoting math and science programs in the local communities where we operate. Intel invests more than $100 million each year in our education programs.

Intel’s education programs focus on * Advocating for and celebrating 21st century educational excellence and access * Improving teaching and learning through the effective use of technology * Advancing math, science, and engineering education and research

Our Approach: A Public/Private Collaboration Committed partners Government Educators Community Development agencies NGOs Employees Local alignment and expertise Common goals achieved through data driven decision making We strive to work together with educators and governments around the world to improve teaching and learning. We collaborate with governments, educators and leading institutions in every community in which we have a presence. We also recognize the expertise and reach of multilateral development organizations like UNESCO. In November 2004, we signed an MOU with UNESCO around the creation of a worldwide framework for teacher training in the use of ICT to build 21st century skills in today’s students. We are currently working with the Information Society Division of UNESCO to create this framework. We recognize that educators are the key to improving how students learn, thus the Intel® Education Initiative offers programs in collaboration with these educators. Creating localized programs is critical to the success of an international initiative. So while our programs and resources are available in more than 50 countries, they are localized to meet the language and cultural needs of each community.

Create Shared Value Open and transparent communication to find the area of overlap and non-overlap objectives Intel looks for social issues where we can bring our competency and resources Not all societal problems can be solved through shared value solutions. But shared value offers corporations the opportunity to utilize their skills, resources, and management capability to lead social progress in ways that even the best-intentioned governmental and social sector organizations can rarely match.
