Adverbs! Definition: Adverbs MODIFY (add on to) verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs.

Adverbs modify verbs The girl danced quickly. The monkey climbed up. The man badly injured himself. Finish this with an adverb: The plant grew _______________.

Adverbs modify adjectives The brother is quite nice. I am always late. Finish this with an adverb: The show is ______________ interesting.

Adverbs modifying other adverbs Adverb inception! They walked exceedingly far. He left very soon. She is going right now. Finish this with an adverb: The sweater was ______________ quite warm.

Adverbs of time Words such as that tell when it is happening: afterwards, always, immediately, now, soon, yesterday, then, before. Examples: The man fell yesterday. I went before. She saw the criminal now.

Adverbs of place Words that tell where something is happening: above, below, upstairs, underneath, there, here She stopped there. They were on the floor above. Please go upstairs.
