  Answers only one question:  To what extent? Adv. Modifying an Adj. or another Adv.

  Varies within a sentence  If modifying a verb, it may precede or follow it or even interrupt a verb phrase.  Normally, adverbs modifying adjectives or other adverbs will immediately precede (come before) the words they modify. Position of Word

 Many adverbs are formed by the addition of –ly to an adjective. Adverb or Adjective?

 Some adjectives, however, also end in –ly. Therefore, you cannot assume that every word ending in –ly is an adverb. But wait…
