Iambic Pentameter Shakespeare’s Style

Meter: Meter is the regular pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables. It is usually dependent not only on the number of syllables in a line but also on the way those syllables are accented.

Stressed syllable = Unstressed syllable= Scanning Syllables louder/more force Unstressed syllable= softer/ less force Place the marks above the syllables they represent.

Stressed and Unstressed Syllables A one syllable word is stressed. A word with 2 or more syllables usually has one stressed syllable. Say your first or last name. Which syllable is stressed?
