COMPOSI TION is the arrangement of The 7 Elements of Art in a work of art.

When you put on clothes you have to decide which elements will go together. When an artist creates a work of art he or her has to decide what composition of lines, colors, shapes, sizes, etc. will be the best and which ones will express the mood and theme of a work of art. Composition

There are two types of Compositions Symmetrical and Asymmetrical. Composition

Symmetrical Composition both halves on two sides of an axis are identical or very similar. Composition

Asymmetrical Composition most paintings contain this type of composition. The left side of a painting is not the same as the right side. Composition

There are a couple other forms of compositions we can consider… Composition

Open Composition gives an impression of not finished, it looks like it could be extended beyond the edges of a painting. Composition

Closed Composition all objects fit within the edges of the painting. It gives an impression of finished. Composition
