ENTC 1110 Engineering Drawing Syllabus

For Your Information In the near future ENTC 1110, Engineering Drawing, will be eliminated from the Technology Core! The number of credit hours will be reduced from 4 credits to 3 credits. The course will be taken only by students who have not had technical drawing in high school. The credit hours in ENTC 2170, CADD, will be increased from 3 credits to 4 credits. This is second time that I have taught this course in six years. Previously, I had not thought about technical drawing since I graduated from the University of Houston in If you decide to stay in this course, we will persevere!!!! If you decide to drop and add, you need to do it immediately!!! No hard feelings.

ENTC 1110 Engineering Drawing Instr.: Dr. Hugh Blanton Phone: Web: Office: Wilson-Wallis 222-A Office Hrs: TR—11:30 am – 2:30 pm or by appointment

Student Introductions Name Major

Course Description Introductory drawing for technical communication, including geometric construction, orthographic projection, auxiliary and section views, and sketching and pictorials. 4 credit hours Major emphasis on drawings The class meets MWF8:15 am – 10:15 am. Lectures will be kept to a minimum. Most Fridays will be work days with no formal class. Lots of class interaction.

Course Objectives Develop the ability to communicate with others through the language of technical drawing and sketching. Develop the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings created by others. Develop an understanding for size specification procedures and use of SI and traditional units of linear measure.

Textbook Technical Graphics Communication by Bertoline, et. al., 3 rd edition.
