AIR I knew I shouldn’t have eaten all that air.

What is in the Air? People generally believe that air is composed mostly of oxygen. In fact, they frequently use the terms "air" and "oxygen" interchangeably. This is a misconception. The content of oxygen in the air is relatively small when compared to the gas nitrogen.

Air Pressure is. the force that air molecules push down on a surface. AIR It’s all around us... Like it or not… Hey!! Get away from me! AIR

Air Pressure is...

Air Pressure.... is not the same everywhere on earth.

3 Things that affect Air Pressure are Humidity Temperature Altitude

Air pressures decreases whenever, or increases. Humidity Altitude Temperatu re

Temperature Affects Air Pressure Warmer air brings ______ air pressure. lower

Temperature Affects Air Pressure

As the altitude the air pressure decreases The people at the bottom of the pyramid can feel all the weight and pressure of the people on top (high pressure). The person on the top doesn’t feel any weight (less pressure) increases

As the humidity or moisture in the air increases the air pressure decreases In addition to gases, the air also contains moisture.

In Low Air Pressure, the air molecules are moving and are apart. fast far

In High Air Pressure, the air molecules are moving and are. slow close together

Could Air Crush a Metal Tank Car ????? The inside of this tank car was washed out and cleaned with HOT steam. Then all the outlet valves were shut. The tank car was sealed. All the workers went home for the evening. In the morning when they returned this is what they found. This tank car was smashed, crushed, or collapsed by an unseen force why?

As altitude increases.. Air pressure As temperature increases.. As humidity increases.. Air pressure decreases

Low Air Pressure Low air pressure brings. L PRECIPITATION

High Air Pressure High air pressure brings clear and weather. H skies fair

High and Low Pressure

A is used to measure air barometer

Barometer

Air Pressure Review A low pressure system brings ___________ weather. A high pressure system brings __________ weather. As the humidity or amount of moisture in the air increases the air pressure _________. As the air temperature gets warmer the air pressure ___________. The higher up you go air pressure ___________. In high air pressure the air molecules are moving __________ and are _________________. In low air pressure the air molecules are moving __________ and are ______________________. A ____________________ measures air pressure. precipitation clear decreases slow close together fast far apart barometer
