How we do it Distributed Collaborative SCRUM -weekly stand up meetings, prioritized backlog, demos

Principles of this approach 1.By minimizing cost to make changes we innovate quickly. - changes in team, tooling, materials, components, even goals. 2.By loosely coupling modules we make changes in parallel. 3.By working collaboratively in shared space we unblock quickly. 4.By first automating tests we quickly know if we have improved. 5.Tests are success criteria. 6.Team morale is multiplier for velocity. 7.Iterations and stubs make for constant successes.

Next Steps What's Next? - Let people know this works works, and how, so we can reduce global waste and increase global value. - Iterate to increase user realized value. Right Now: Micro-Manufacture: a) selecting larger production facility in Michigan as we outgrow prototype line, which builds up to 1 car per week. b) profit share within the WIKISPEED team and early financial supporters. c) pairing with Roush Automotive on airbag module.

Keep up the Awesome: Re-allocate time from entertainment to solving epic problems. Try Personal Kanban to "find" more time in your day. "Do you use your power for good, or for Awesome?"

104 mpg city (EPA UDDS cycle simulation) 114 mpg highway (EPA HWFET cycle simulation) 400 mile range (4 gallon gasoline tank, no batteries) Validated frontal impact, side impact, roof crush strength to 5 star equivalency, pairing with Roush Automotive Engineering to develop airbag sensor strategy in 5 seconds, top speed of 149 MPH (but that uses more gasoline). Mid-engine, rear wheel drive, structural carbon fiber body. Extruded Aluminum chassis. Current iteration weighs 1,404lbs. Modular: body style, interior configuration, suspension type, crush zones, and engine all hot swappable like changing a tire.

All volunteer team, 52 volunteers in 6 countries. Modeled after Lean/Agile software startup, a key differentiator. We innovated a structural carbon fiber layup process, allowing us to go from CAD to carbon In 3 days, for less than $1,000 per car body. Selling kits now, manufactured in Hillsdale, MI, starting at $28,886. If we receive >250 pre-orders during 2011, all ordered kits will be credited back to a base price starting at $17,995. Will offer turnkey model when Roush returns recommendations on airbag sensor strategy. Soliciting $750,000 in startup funds (loan or angel) to convert key team members from volunteer to full time resources. Prototype here at NAIAS, featuring structural carbon fiber drop-on body draped over Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize mechanicals.

FAQ: When can I buy one? You can buy one right now. Currently more expensive as we do not yet have some of the CNC tools the car is designed to take advantage of. The car is currently for sale at $28, with first deliveries estimated January Until our airbag module is improved you would need to sign a liability waiver with WIKISPEED.
