Are you in? or are you out? You may come on the school picnic but you must ask permission first to attend. As part of the request, you must say what food you will bring. I will tell you if your request has been accepted and you’re “in” or if you must “try again” Ready?! *Note: all of you WANT to attend… consider it like graduation.

In your journals & with a partner… Brainstorm connotative words for “village.” What does it mean to be part of the group encountering the unfamiliar- to be part of the village? Brainstorm connotative words for “stranger.” What does it mean to be the unfamiliar one, the stranger?

Continued… After viewing the film clip, consider what the filmmaker does to set the “stranger” apart from the “village.” Brainstorm a list of film clips with which you are familiar and for each one discuss: Who is the “stranger” Who or what is the “village”

In your groups: You and your classmates are going to present this information and “teach” the class. Step 1: Diffuse the text. Step 2: Discuss and agree on three sentences that demonstrate the 3 main points (to teach). Step 3: Draw a picture.
