Because of his asthma he never celebrated mass after his first year as a priest, though throughout his life he was known as the red priest. THE RED PRIEST
Vivaldi wrote approximately 40 or 50 operas and some 400 concertos, in addition to church music of all kinds. His operas for the most part, have been forgotten as has most of his church music, except the Gloria mass, and the oratorio Judith Triumphant.
