Length Instrument – Meter Stick Unit – meter (m)

Uses To measure how length, width or height of something. Volume of a rectangle – L x W x H

Mass Instrument – Triple Beam Balance Unit – Kilogram (kg)

Volume Instrument – Graduated Cylinder Unit – meters cubed (m 3 )

Meniscus The curved upper surface of a liquid column that is concave when the containing walls are wetted by the liquid and convex when not. (Read at bottom of curve.) 53 ml

Temperature Instrument – thermometer Most common (alcohol and mercury) Unit – Kelvin (K)

Conversion To convert from Celsius to Kelvin (K = C )

Freezing Point of Water 0 o C or 32 o F.

Boiling Point of Water 100 o C or 212 o F

Add Acid to water (A to W) Do not add water to acid. Not W to A
